Description
How to Be Abe Lincoln: Seven Steps to Leading a Legendary Life Jonathan Shapiro ISBN 9781639053346
More than sixty thousand books have been written about Abraham Lincoln, most portraying him as a distant historical hero. What has been missing is a book that reveals the practical Lincoln—the thinker, problem-solver, and human being whose approach to life remains urgently relevant today. This is that book.
“An invaluable, genre-defying work. Infused with sharp humor, it presents Lincoln not only as a towering historical figure, but—more uniquely—as the kind of human being we should all aspire to become.”
— Scott Turow, #1 New York Times bestselling author
Few moments in American history—perhaps none since Lincoln’s own—have needed his guidance more. And not merely for inspiration.
How to Be Like Abe Lincoln offers a blueprint for navigating our deeply divided and truth-challenged era, one often marked by misinformation, tribalism, and resistance to self-improvement. Written for readers who want more than admiration, the book shows how to emulate Lincoln’s rational, practical approach to law, leadership, love, and life. It identifies the seven essential steps that shaped Lincoln’s greatness—and teaches how to apply them today.
Written in the accessible, witty style familiar from Shapiro’s books and television work, How to Be Like Abe Lincoln is part history, part biography, part philosophy, part memoir, and part sharp cultural critique. Like Lincoln himself, it defies easy categorization. Above all, it is compelling storytelling—using narrative not just to inform, but to teach, challenge, and inspire.
