This casebook's approach focuses on the main issues, addressed in Parts 1-5, which will furnish the student with a more comprehensive understanding of our nation's immigration laws and policy.
In addition to coverage of federal statutes, regulations and procedures, this casebook facilitates understanding of immigration law and practice through discussion of other related issues. Students are taught the constitutional law issues underlying immigration law, and learn about issues in other areas, such as family law and criminal law, which may overlap immigration matters. Additionally, the author discusses the influence of political, sociological, historical, and economic concerns.
Case selection, problems, and historical overview sections reflect the demographic shift in US immigration during this century, from predominantly European at the beginning of this century, to predominantly Latin American and Asian at the end of the century.
A Teacher's Manual is available to professors.
