Description
The Law of Health Care Organization and Finance 9th Edition Elizabeth Pendo ISBN 9781684677139
This book is designed for specialized health law courses that focus on the organization and financing of health care, and it is equally suitable for programs in health administration, business, or health policy and management. It opens with an introduction to fundamental concepts affecting cost, quality, access, and equity in health care, and presents the economic principles and analytical tools central to health policy and reform initiatives.
The book offers extensive coverage of payment systems, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, and examines their influence on the structure and operation of the health care delivery system, including alternative payment models such as accountable care organizations. It also surveys organizational structures and legal relationships within health care enterprises.
Legal issues affecting health care payment and delivery are thoroughly explored, with up-to-date treatment of the Affordable Care Act, fraud and abuse laws, antitrust enforcement, ERISA, and requirements for tax-exempt entities. Several chapters address the legal framework for quality control, covering professional licensure, institutional licensure and certification, and nondiscrimination obligations.
As in prior editions, the authors provide a variety of classroom teaching tools, including problem exercises that challenge students to navigate legal, policy, and practical issues, and a rich selection of materials drawn from judicial opinions, statutes, regulations, agency guidance, and other authoritative sources.

- Late Fees
- Books returned after the semester deadline accrue a weekly late fee of about 10% of the book's Brand New price. Late fees stop once your book ships back or the total reaches the book's replacement value (its Brand New price) - you never pay more than that. We email a reminder 48 hours before any charge, and any late fees are charged to the payment method you save at checkout.
- Damage Fees
- Books returned damaged beyond normal classroom wear may be assessed a damage fee, capped at the book's replacement value (its Brand New price). Any damage fees are charged to the payment method you save at checkout after we inspect the returned book.
- Return Shipping
- Returning your book is free: print a prepaid label (USPS or UPS, whichever is cheaper for your package) from your account's My Rentals page, whether you send it back early or on the semester deadline. Cancelling a shipped rental for a refund is different: there, the return label cost comes out of your refund.

Cancel before your book ships and it’s free; once it has shipped, we refund the rental price minus a 15% restocking fee and the return label cost, released once we receive your book.
