Description
Materials for a Basic Course in Civil Procedure, Concise 14th Edition Kevin M. Clermont ISBN 9781685615000
This casebook offers a concise, modern adaptation of a classic civil procedure text. Its brevity stems from an efficient, systematic, step-by-step survey in Part One, providing a focused 270-page overview of current civil procedure. Through carefully selected cases, commentary, text, and questions, this section guides students from pretrial and settlement to trial, judgment, appeal, jurisdiction, and complex litigation, giving them a solid foundation in the subject.
Parts Two through Four allow for more in-depth exploration of specific areas: the system’s governing law, authority to adjudicate, and res judicata. The fourteenth edition has been thoroughly updated, featuring a reorganization of Part Three, a revised treatment of the rapidly evolving topics of general and specific personal jurisdiction, and new materials on arbitration to reflect growing demand. Additionally, the book continues its proven “Stories” approach, presenting the background of major cases to enhance understanding and engagement.

Rental Terms
Return by December 28, 2026 for Fall 2026 rentals.
- Late Fees
- Books returned after the semester deadline accrue a weekly late fee of about 10% of the book's Brand New price. Late fees stop once your book ships back or the total reaches the book's replacement value (its Brand New price) - you never pay more than that. We email a reminder 48 hours before any charge, and any late fees are charged to the payment method you save at checkout.
- Damage Fees
- Books returned damaged beyond normal classroom wear may be assessed a damage fee, capped at the book's replacement value (its Brand New price). Any damage fees are charged to the payment method you save at checkout after we inspect the returned book.
- Return Shipping
- Returning your book is free: print a prepaid label (USPS or UPS, whichever is cheaper for your package) from your account's My Rentals page, whether you send it back early or on the semester deadline. Cancelling a shipped rental for a refund is different: there, the return label cost comes out of your refund.
- 30-Day Cancellation
- Changed your mind? Cancel an active rental within 30 days of your order from My Account → My Rentals. Cancel before your book ships and it’s free; once it has shipped, we refund the rental price minus a 15% restocking fee and the return label cost, released once we receive your book. Shipping is non-refundable.
