Description
Ethics & Integrity in Law & Business: Avoiding "Club Fed" Michael Ross ISBN 9780769846910
Ethics & Integrity in Law & Business: Avoiding "Club Fed" offers a fresh and practical approach to the Professional Responsibility course. Designed to be focused, engaging, and even fun, the book emphasizes the ethical challenges lawyers actually face in modern practice.
The text is deliberately focused on:
-
Law firm practice, where most graduates begin their careers;
-
Business-client issues, which occupy much of law firm work; and
-
The ethical rules that are most relevant to real-world decision-making.
It is also highly practical, featuring:
-
Recurring, realistic scenarios drawn from everyday legal practice;
-
Decision-making based on incomplete or evolving information, rather than a full case record;
-
Ethical choices made under pressure from senior partners and demanding clients;
-
Concrete steps and persuasive arguments for promoting ethical behavior; and
-
Clear discussion of the consequences of remaining silent or taking no action.
To keep students engaged, the book incorporates a range of interesting and accessible materials, including:
-
High-profile cases widely reported in the media;
-
Challenging and nuanced conflicts-of-interest scenarios; and
-
A distinctive mix of quotations from philosophers, authors, scientists, judges, economists, and humorists, along with comics from The Wall Street Journal, P. C. Vey, and others.
Together, these elements create a lively, practice-oriented resource that helps students understand not only the rules of professional responsibility, but how to apply them effectively in the pressures of real legal practice.

We email a reminder 48 hours before any charge, and any late fees are charged to the payment method you save at checkout.
- Damage Fees
- Books returned damaged beyond normal classroom wear may be assessed a damage fee, capped at the book's replacement value (its Brand New price). Any damage fees are charged to the payment method you save at checkout after we inspect the returned book.
- Return Shipping
- Returning your book is free: print a prepaid label (USPS or UPS, whichever is cheaper for your package) from your account's My Rentals page, whether you send it back early or on the semester deadline. Cancelling a shipped rental for a refund is different: there, the return label cost comes out of your refund.
